About Cap News

Cap News reports what UK company accounts show, every working day, from the accounts themselves.

What we do

Around ten thousand sets of company accounts are filed with Companies House every working day and published immediately as open data. Almost nobody reads them in bulk. We do, and we report what the day's filings show: how many companies reported liabilities larger than assets, how many went backwards against the prior year, and which industries are carrying it.

It is a narrow beat, deliberately. One day of filings is not an economy, but the series is a picture that no single filing and no press release can give.

What we do not do

Who publishes it

Published by Domain Farm Ltd, company number 13544286, registered in England and Wales, which also publishes Small Cap News. The editor is Sam Allcock. He is not an accountant, an insolvency practitioner or a financial adviser, and the site is built so that the primary data does the talking: the method is published in full, including the mistakes we caught before publishing.

How it is paid for

It is not, yet. No advertising, no affiliate links, no paid placement, and no company has paid to appear here or to be left out. If that changes it will be disclosed on this page and on the page where the money is, before you read it rather than after.
